11/29/2023 0 Comments NaNoWriMo 2023![]() I have a love-hate relationship with NaNoWriMo - National Novel Writing Month. My first foray into this writing madness was in 2011. I completed the 50,000 words with a novel that has yet to become published. I participated in NaNoWriMo on and off over the next decade. The original point for me was to push my way to completion of a novel draft in a month. Once I knew I could FINISH something, I slacked off on NaNo-ing. Now I'm back, not to prove I can finish a novel draft, but because I have so many drafts going at once, I need to laser-focus on one project. I may not make it to 50,000 words by Thursday midnight, but I nearly have the bones of a draft completed. This year, I wanted to push through to a first draft of the third book in my Rose Creek Mystery series, The Body in the Hayloft. I've made it to 46,265. I'm in the final push to the finish line. More coffee, please! 11/17/2023 0 Comments New Release Featured on Lisa Haselton![]() The Body in the Cornfield is featured on Lisa Haselton's Book Reviews and Interviews blog today. https://lisahaselton.com/2023/11/17/interview-with-cozy-mystery-author-catherine-dilts/ ![]() Today is the day. Staging the musical Oklahoma! in the historic Rose Creek amphitheater seems like a brilliant move, until a feral cat leads Makenzie to a body. The tragedy threatens to halt the Hollywood production, and derails Callie’s plan to evict her husband’s worthless cousin. He has no memory of his night at a cowboy bar, partying with the actors. Callie can’t get rid of him until she proves his innocence. Or guilt. Makenzie suspects half the county of murder. Shanice attempts to eliminate suspects using a mathematical formula, while lawyer Drew wonders if her new client, an understudy with a strong motivation to kill, is telling her the truth. The Rose Creek Reads book club tackles a new mystery with too many suspects and not enough clues. https://www.amazon.com/Body-Cornfield-Rose-Creek-Mystery-ebook/dp/B0CL2QH85X/ 11/14/2023 0 Comments Survive Or Die![]() Featured on the Snowflakes in a Blizzard blog: The owner of a dysfunctional manufacturing company arranges a mandatory team-building exercise at the Survive or Die survivalist camp, once the setting for a defunct reality TV show. When he receives a death threat, what surprises employees is not that someone wants their lecherous, hard-drinking boss dead. The surprise is that he’s not the first casualty. Tours of Going Batty Days and the Cannibal of Carver Pass Museum in nearby Lodgepole provide pieces to a disturbing puzzle. The week deteriorates from mock survival games to a fight for survival in the Colorado wilderness. https://snowflakesarise.wordpress.com/2023/11/07/survive-or-die/ 11/13/2023 0 Comments Two days to launch![]() Countdown to book release: only two days until The Body in the Cornfield arrives. Makenzie sipped her coffee, took a deep breath, then relayed how the mother cat seeking help for her kittens led to the discovery of the body in the cornfield. “Why is a cat always involved?” Shanice asked. “Cats and mysteries go together,” Emily said matter-of-factly. |
