7/28/2024 0 Comments It All Depends on CanadaMy husband asked whether I wanted to go for a walk in the park with him Thursday afternoon. I replied, "It all depends on Canada." He knew what I meant. The photo here should be of blue skies and mountain peaks. Instead, forest fire smoke from Canada filled our air Monday through Friday. You can barely see the outline of the Front Range about one third of the way from the bottom. My husband just informed me that our friend who is an EMT for forest fire fighters is being sent to Oregon. My bad, Canada. It's not ALL your fault. I have asthma. In the past, I have taunted fate and risked going outdoors during Air Quality Advisory days. I'm not taking chances this summer. Even using my prescription medicines, exposure to particulates makes me lightheaded and unable to function. But this has dragged on since Monday. I opted for getting my miles in on the treadmill. I felt stir crazy. House bound. I dug out my old homemade cloth Covid masks to wear so I could duck outside for a few minutes to pick vegetables. My husband is watering for me, and picking green beans. So that's my garden report. I'm barely able to attend to it. Thank goodness my husband enjoys gardening, too. He's taking up the slack for me. Tonight for dinner - zucchini and green beans from our garden. How is my writing doing? Fantastic! Stuck indoors, I have extra time to work on my novel-in-progress. After an on-line workshop with thriller author Meg Gardiner, courtesy of Mystery Writers of America, I decided to rework the last fourth of my novel. Ugh and Yay. I hope to have my novel ready to send to my agent by Monday. Maybe the smoke will clear by then. I am eager to get outside. Summer is short here! UPDATE: the smoke cleared. I have been able to garden this weekend, and went for a 5 mile walk Saturday.
